Rupa was a student of Standard 8 in the government school in Nathnagar block, Bhagalpur. She started menstruating and was unaware of its hygiene maintenance and habits. When she joined Pratham’s MHM class, she got to know how to maintain hygiene during the menses.

When she came to know about sanitary pads, she wanted to use them but her parents did not allow her to buy sanitary pads. She shared this problem with her MHM teacher and the teacher suggested her to save INR 1 every day and buy sanitary napkins with that money at the end of the month.

Rupa did the same and when she saved money for pads, she gave it to her teacher and the teacher bought pads for her.

Now Rupa does not bunk school during her period in fact she comes to school to collect her pads from her teacher. She is healthy and is doing very well at school!
